Bush Cherries
The Bush Cherry Collection—featuring Joel, Joy, and Jan—were developed for cold-climate growers seeking dependable fruit in northern zones. These dwarf cherry shrubs withstand Montana winters, bloom late to avoid frost, and ripen heavy crops of rich, tangy fruit by midsummer. Excellent for fresh eating, baking, and preserves, they’re among the most resilient small fruits you can grow in cold regions. We tried them for the first time in 2025 and were surprised how tasty they were. We didn't find that there was a huge difference in flavor amongst the three varieties, although reports on the internet will say there is. These were each much more sweet than I imagined. All are hardy to zone 3.
