Tart Cherry Trees
Tart cherries are hardier than their sweet cherry cousins, but they vary in sweetness. Montmorency leans strongly tart, making it ideal for pies, drying, and processing. Danube, a Hungarian variety that thrives in Western Montana, is among the sweetest tart cherries. Evan’s Bali is the hardiest, surviving temperatures below –40°F, and nearly matches Danube in sweetness. Our other tart cherry offerings fall between these in flavor, providing a balance of tartness and sweetness.
