The Jostaberry is one of our favorite cold-hardy hybrid shrubs. A complex-cross involving three species of the Ribes genus: the blackcurrant, the North American coastal black gooseberry, and the European gooseberry. It is thornless, vigorous, and highly disease-resistant. Perfect for Montana growers and others in cold climate analogs. These can survive down to -40F or colder.
In our experience, Jostaberries produce good sized, black, tangy fruit that’s excellent fresh or in jams.
