Red Raspberries
We grow three cold-hardy red raspberry varieties—Boyne, Nova, and Polana—each proven to withstand at least -40°F, and they can possibly tolerate colder. We've even added a Sophia Groundcover Raspberry, which are absolutely delicious. They come on mid-July in Missoula and are moreso the texture and shape (albeit smaller) of a blackberry, but red. And no thorns.
In our experience, these raspberries are vigorous, flavorful, and consistent producers throughout some of Montana’s coldest regions, from valleys to high plains.
In our zone 4 part of Missoula, MT where seasons are shorter, we see these ripen during the following times:
-
Boyne: harvesting early summer (July)
-
Nova: harvesting mid-summer (later July into August)
-
Polana: harvesting late summer into early fall (August into September)
