Overview

Luke tried one of Purvis' Bill’s Nectar Peachcots a few years ago, but due to storage issues in his cold room—specifically mold contamination—the flavor wasn’t at its peak. Even so, this is a fascinating hybrid of Nectarine × Peach × Apricot. The fruits are large and, from memory, had a somewhat fibrous texture.

Notes from Bob Purvis

“The fruit is an interesting fruit to grow because of its size, which is larger than a peach but has the texture of an apricot, and the tanginess of a nectarine. Certainly worth growing due to its novelty.”

Hardiness & Recommended Growing Areas

The tree is likely hardy to around –30°F and, for Montana growers, should only be planted in select warmer regions—specifically Missoula, Plains, and the Flathead Lake area—and only within the warmer microclimates of those areas that do not drop below this threshold.

Note: We don’t yet have any photos of Bill’s Nectar Peachcot and couldn’t find any online. The image shown is not an actual photo of the fruit, but looks (somewhat) similar to it.
