Frost Pear

This selection was discovered on an old ranch in Montana's Bitterroot Valley. The old veteran was planted nearly 100 years ago and according to Roger Joy, would win the "Blue Ribbon" at the county fair. The canopy is upright, vigorous and disease resistant. The fruit ripens in late September and is quite large, similar to Bartlett in size and shape, with sweet, juicy melting flesh.

No positive identification has yet been established for this variety. Therefore, continuing a tradition of more than twenty years, we are keeping the name by which it has long been known—the ranch name “Frost”—until a definitive identification can be made.

A favorite in the Bitterroot and recommended for Western Montana.
