Overview
These Cortland hybrid hazelnut seedlings are the largest nut I have seen of any hybrid hazel. The original seed source was obtained from Z's Nutty Ridge.
Description from Z’s Nutty Ridge
According to their website:
"These seedlings are from one of our best tree selections. The nuts from the mother tree (shown below) are round, beautiful, tasty and very thin shell that you can crack by squeezing two in your hand. The nuts are well filled and a very short husk that allows the nuts to fall freely to enable harvesting.
Cortland grows upright with stiffer branches to 12+ feet tall at maturity and about 9 feet wide in bush form at 25 years of age. If grown as a single stem tree it will be 14 feet and similar width depending on pruning."
