Ashworth Mountain Black Walnut Seeds—50 Seeds: Ships ASAP

From the largest planting of Black Walnut in the Missoula Valley. The original ten trees were planted in the 1980’s. They were seedlings from Fred Ashworth’s trees and so a good amount of work had already been done to improve cold hardiness, nut production and timber quality. A second generation was planted by squirrels over the last 50 years. This selection is from the 2nd generation and exhibits productivity and a decent amount of nut meat for a Missoula Black Walnut (2-3g per nut with limited irrigation). With two generations of proven Montana parents, this next generation should be very cold hardy and well adapted to Montana’s climate. Zone 3.
