European Plum Trees

European plums are the prune and blue plums: firm, sweet, freestone fruit that's great fresh, dried, baked or canned. They bloom later than the hybrid plums and pollenize each other, not the Japanese-American hybrids.

Italian Plum is the classic prune plum, hardy to zone 3b and partially self-fertile. Mount Royal is the tough one, hardy to zone 2b and self-fertile, so it's the pick for really cold sites.
