Zone 4 Late-Blooming Fruit Trees

MFTC Zones, Not USDA Averages: Look Up Your Address →

Fruit trees that bloom late and can take a zone 4 winter, so they have better odds of missing a spring frost. Everything is listed A to Z, and the plants rated only to 4b, the warmer half of the zone (-25°F to -20°F), have a 4b tag on them.

Questions We Get

What does zone 4 mean on your scale?

On our MFTC scale, zone 4 means the coldest night you should plan for (the 1-in-30-year low) falls between -30°F and -20°F. Zone 4a runs -30°F to -25°F and zone 4b runs -25°F to -20°F. That is colder than a USDA zone 4, which is built on the average yearly low, so run your address through our cold hardiness calculator instead of going off a USDA map.
