Early-Ripening Plum Trees

Plums that come ripe early to mid August here in Missoula. They're the first stone fruit off the trees after cherries and apricots, and they finish with plenty of season to spare.

More about early plums

Underwood and La Crescent are hybrid plums rated to zone 3. La Crescent blooms late and resists brown rot. Ptitsin #5 from Morden takes zone 2.

Kuban Delight is a Japanese plum, and Deluge is the earliest of all here, around the start of August. Both are rated to zone 3b. Deluge wants a European plum for a pollenizer.

Plant at least two plums, and add a late plum to stretch the season into September. Our ripening map moves these dates to your town, and the plum pollination map shows what blooms together.
