Somerset Seedless Grape (Bundle of 2)
Somerset Seedless Grape (Bundle of 2)
Somerset is arguably the most hardy of the seedless grapes. Rosy, small to medium-sized compact clusters with medium-sized berries with adherent skin and great strawberry-like flavor. Best for fresh eating but we speculate that they could be used as a sweet, red dessert wine. Could also be used for jams and juices. These do well all over Montana. The few exceptions would be only the coldest microclimates east of the continental divide where temps can get below -50F. We spoke to a customer from Joplin, Montana who claimed that the ambient air temperature this last winter hit below where the mercury couldn’t run any further. -65F. We still need to verify this but even if it hit -55F there, and we have been to that part of the state a lot as our family homesteaded Cut Bank, these may not survive. But, what you could do is train the arms (cordons) of the vine low down (close to the ground) so that you could mulch over these in the Fall. That could provide them with a little extra protection. Hardy to at least -50F.
These Spring 2025 vines come in several sizes.
