Put Our Cold Hardiness Calculator on Your Website
Our Cold Hardiness Calculator is free to put on your own website. Extension offices, garden clubs, conservation districts, nurseries, orchard blogs, real estate folks selling rural land, anybody whose people ask what will grow where they live.
Your visitors type in an address and get the coldest night they ought to plan for, worked out from decades of records at the weather stations near them, plus how cold air settles on their ground. Then they see every fruit, nut and berry plant we grow that has come through that temperature. It's the same calculator that runs on our site.
The code
Copy all three lines and paste them where you want the calculator to show up.
Please leave the credit line in. It's how other growers find the tool.
Where to paste it
- WordPress: add a Custom HTML block and paste the code in.
- Squarespace: add a Code block, paste the code, and leave Display Source off.
- Shopify: add a Custom Liquid section to the page, or paste it into a page with the HTML view.
- Wix and Google Sites: use Embed code (Wix calls it Embed HTML). These put it in a box with a fixed height, so make the box tall, around 1,600 pixels, so the results have room.
- Anything else: anywhere you can paste HTML will work.
Good to know
- It fits the width of whatever it sits in and works on phones.
- Plant and zone links open our site in a new tab, so your visitors don't lose your page.
- It works for addresses in the United States.
- We don't collect anything about your visitors. The address goes to public mapping services (mainly the US Census Bureau geocoder) to find the spot, and the weather records come from NOAA's Regional Climate Centers.
- One calculator per page.
If something doesn't look right on your site, email us at office@montanafruittrees.com and tell us where you put it. We'll take a look.
