Chinese Apricot

Overview
Chinese, Perfection, and Wenatchee Moorpark are the only commercial cultivars that are non-seedling/non-Manchurian apricots that we grow.
Hardiness & Cold Limitations
Firstly, this is not a super hardy apricot. We’ve been growing Chinese apricots since 2016 when Micheal Dolan in Onalaska, Washington introduced them to us. And those earlier plantings have still held up in Missoula, although Missoula proper does not see below -30F. We have seen Chinese meanwhile perish at sub -30F temps, so DO NOT grow this if you are located in these areas of Montana (basically this can only be grown in Missoula, parts of Plains, around Flathead Lake, Dixon, and a few select other areas that don’t see below -30F).
Pollination
Plant with Perfection or Wenatchee Moorpark (which are also only hardy to -30F) for pollination.
Cold-Climate Alternatives
If you are colder than -30F, then look to many of our other cold climate apricots such as Westcot, Morden 604, and others.
Uses & Flavor
Good for baking, fresh eating, canning, and drying and the sweet pits are edible, which you can eat like almonds.
