Wayne Apricot

New Variety. Obtained from Purvis. Manchurian seedling selection. Apricots are roughly 1.5” in diameter and have good flavor. Does not taste woody unlike some Manchurian apricots. Wayne was bred by Al Precht. He grew out scores of Manchurian seedlings and there was one that had flavor that stood above the rest. That one he named 'Wayne' after one of his Vietnam comrades. Wayne was the best of all of them. At least a zone 3 apricot.

One other note, according to Purvis, Wayne blooms very late, thus often avoiding Spring frosts!
