We started growing this after learning about it several years ago from a good friend who is from Santa Rosa. We tried growing it after learning it was hardy to zone 5. I wouldn’t plant Santa Rosa nor any of our other Asian plums (except Taylor Apple Pear) any lower than zone 5. They do happen to like our hot summers and grow well, but the only thing is (as is the case we’ve found with all Asian plums in zone 5) they must be wrapped in burlap if you see the forecast call for below 0 temps before Dec. 1st (as is the case with other fruits like most of the sweet cherries and most peaches). Super tasty are these plums! Plant with Elephant Heart, Duarte, or Shiro for pollination. Zone 5.

Trees are 5-7 ft. tall and grafted onto Lovell semi-dwarf rootstock.
